DA Guest: Drug Dealer Recieves 60-Year Sentence. Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael Guest announced today that a jury found Gregory Antonio Hollins of Jackson guilty of selling cocaine. Hollins is both a subsequent drug offender and a habitual offender and will have to serve all 60 years of his sentence.

On December 23, 2008, officers from the Flowood Police Department and Rankin County Sheriff’s Department met with a confidential informant to make a drug buy from Hollins, from whom she had purchased illegal drugs before.  The confidential informant called the defendant and asked him to bring $200 of crack cocaine and also promised to pay a debt of $80 from a prior drug deal.

The confidential informant was then equipped with audio/video equipment to monitor and record the illegal drug transaction.  Officials also provided her with $280 to make the purchase.

Law enforcement officials then positioned themselves to monitor the transaction and waited for Hollins to arrive.  A short time later Hollins drove into the parking, but another individual exited the vehicle and approached the hotel room.  That individual, who was later identified as Gene Williams, knocked on the door and delivered the drugs to the confidential informant and was given $280.00 of the pre-recorded buy money.  Once the transaction was complete the confidential informant immediately informed the narcotics agents that the person whom delivered the drugs to the hotel room was just a “runner” for Gregory Antonio Hollins and that Hollins was outside waiting in the car.

Once Williams returned to the vehicle, law enforcement detained the suspects and placed both Williams and Hollins under arrest.  Officers searched Hollins and his vehicle and located the $280 of buy money in Hollins’ pocket and also located his cell phone inside the vehicle.  Officers checked the cell phone recovered and determined that it was the phone used to set up the drug deal.

Guest stated, “We believe that we made our neighborhoods safer today by removing another habitual offender from our streets.  Hollins has an extensive criminal record that includes convictions for possessing cocaine with the intent to deliver and manslaughter.  Hollins is a violent drug dealer who has now been put behind bars for the remainder of his life.”

Guest concluded, “We hope that this conviction and sentence will send a message to criminals that the law enforcement officials will continue to aggressively pursue those who deal drugs in Madison and Rankin counties.  I am very proud of the hard work and the professionalism of the law enforcement officers who brought down a dangerous criminal.”

Hollins has been convicted in Hinds County in 1995 for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and manslaughter.  Hollins has also been previously arrested for armed robbery and capital murder.
