Ablitech: An Early Pick At WBT Marketplace

Hattiesburg-based Company Showcases Game-Changing Technology

Hattiesburg, MS, December 16, 2010– Eleven “Early Picks” – undiscovered technologies originating from leading companies and research institutions around the world – have been pre-selected for the 2011 World’s Best Technology Innovation Marketplace (WBT).  Ablitech, Inc., a Hattiesburg-based biotechnology company, has received this honor after being screened by a panel of national seed investors, venture capitalists and corporate licensing executives.

Ablitech’s CEO, Ken Malone, said, “This prestigious event offers the opportunity to showcase our platform technology to investors, federal agencies, and licensees, while providing valuable networking with fellow technology companies.”

On March 22-23, Ablitech will travel to Arlington, Texas, to present its signature product, VersadelTM, and seek venture funding.

“Successful delivery of nucleic acids into a cell has caused past companies to stop short of creating a commercial product. Until now,” Chief Science Officer Lisa Kemp said. “We’ve developed a gene delivery system that overcomes former delivery hurdles.”

Before it reaches the market, Ablitech requires additional funding to complete animal trials, develop strategic license partnerships and position the company for liquidity through licensing of the technology.

“VersadelTM is the solution we’ve all been looking for,” said Malone “It is the mechanism that provides a non-toxic, biocompatible method for the systemic and local delivery of antisense DNA and siRNA in the body.”

Malone continued, “This therapeutic platform has the potential to treat a number of diseases and enable the multi-billion dollar RNAi therapeutics market.  We look forward to sharing our technology.”

For more information, please contact Ken Malone at (601) 466-7050 or by email at ken.malone@ablitech.com.
